About Nick Moakes
After being elected as a States Deputy in October 2020, I was keen to serve the island and immediately joined two committees - the Committee for Economic Development and the States Trading Supervisory Board. I also accepted invitations to sit on a number of sub-committees and working groups covering a diverse range of subjects. I was also proud to be able to bring together representatives from government, business and the third sector in order to try to resolve some of the issues facing our island.
As a member of the External Relations team, I felt honoured to have been able to represent and promote Guernsey to the outside world. As well as meeting U.K. ministers and government officials, I also met well over 100 representatives from countries all around the world. I was also proud to chair Guernsey’s Finance Sector Forum and sit on the board of Guernsey Finance.
Originally based in London, my career in Financial Services spans more than 30 years, during which time I have worked in senior positions for some of the world’s leading Financial Services companies. An analytical and creative thinker, I have strong financial and commercial skills and I am used to negotiating complex agreements and managing major projects. I have a proven track record of bringing people together, building consensus and working across highly matrixed organisations.
I am married with two children and my wife comes from a family with strong ties to Guernsey. I am passionate about the island’s future which is why I am standing for re-election.
